“...extra care taken to prevent this disease from breaking out in the homeless community, which then can be a reservoir for it to continue to spread within the rest of our community.”...Dr. Jason Reinking,
The homeless in Berkeley living in SHELTERS take precedence over the homeless living on sidewalks in Oakland.
April 14th “At least 13 people staying in the Dwight Way Center homeless shelter in Berkeley were moved today into the Radisson Hotel on Edes Avenue near the Oakland airport, one of the Oakland hotels the state has rented to protect people from contracting COVID-19.
Residents of three other homeless shelters in Berkeley will be screened soon with the intent of moving people Wednesday or Thursday, according to an email City Manager Dee Williams-Ridley sent to Berkeley officials”…..Berkeleyside.
The homeless living on the sidewalk should be moved to the hotels near Oakland Airport before Berkeley sends more of their homeless already housed in SHELTERS to them.
